Explore What AVID Does in Commercial Real Estate

Commercial real estate is where AVID EXEC is most deeply rooted.

We conduct executive search and professional search and recruitment across every organizational level—from emerging professionals, administrators, and specialized contributors to managers, directors, vice presidents, presidents, and C-suite executives.

Our work spans office, industrial, retail, mixed-use, and multi-family real estate, and the organizations that own, invest in, develop, finance, operate, manage, lease, and advise across those assets. That includes entrepreneurial organizations, privately held legacy companies, institutional owners, and private-equity-backed real estate organizations.

We know the industry. We know how interconnected it is. And we understand that the importance of a hire is not determined by the seniority of the title.

The right talent changes everything.

Let’s Talk About Your Search
Our Sweet SpotFig. 01Our Sweet Spot

Real estate is interconnected. The talent behind it must be understood that way.

Commercial real estate is not one discipline.

What happens in property management affects tenant experience, operating performance, and asset value. Leasing influences income, positioning, and investment decisions. Finance, accounting, and valuation provide the information leaders need to act. Development, land, and project teams move opportunity from concept to completion. Maintenance and facilities professionals protect the physical asset and the people who use it.

That interdependence is why industry knowledge matters in search.

The strongest candidate is not simply someone who has held a similar title. It is someone who understands how their work affects the property, the portfolio, the business, and the people around them.

AVID goes beyond the résumé and job description to understand what success genuinely requires. We assess capability, accomplishment, Value Proposition, emotional intelligence, and alignment—because technically qualified is only the beginning.

Commercial real estate is also a highly connected community. The market is small. Reputations are long. Relationships matter.

AVID’s network was not built by collecting names in a database. It was built through years of searches, conversations, industry involvement, introductions, and genuine participation in the commercial real estate community.

Where We SearchFig. 02Where We Search

The people who lead, operate, protect, grow, and create value in real estate.

01

Executive & Senior Leadership

Leadership that can see the whole business—and move it forward.

AVID conducts executive search for Presidents, Chief Operating Officers, Managing Directors, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Executive Directors, Senior Directors, and Directors across commercial real estate.

At this level, technical experience and proven value creation matter. So does the ability to understand ownership expectations, portfolio performance, people, risk, opportunity, and the realities of execution.

We look closely at what a leader has built, changed, or strengthened; how they make decisions; how they create value through others; and how people experience their leadership. The title may open the conversation, but accomplishment, emotional intelligence, and alignment determine whether the relationship has the potential to succeed.

AVID also provides Leadership Advisory support when an organization is working through succession, structure, compensation, a sensitive leadership transition, or planning for a future hire.

02

Property Management & Operations

Where properties, people, and performance come together.

AVID searches across every level of property management—from Property Administrators, Assistant Property Managers, and Property Managers to Senior Property Managers, Regional Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents.

Our work spans office, industrial, retail, mixed-use, and multi-family portfolios. We understand that strong property management involves far more than keeping a building running. It brings together tenant experience, operating performance, budgeting, contracts, capital planning, risk, communication, service delivery, and team leadership.

We look for people who understand both the details and the bigger picture: what the property needs today, what ownership expects over time, and how consistent execution protects the value of the asset.

03

Maintenance & Facilities

Protecting the asset means understanding how it really works.

AVID searches for Directors of Maintenance and Facilities, Facilities Managers, Building Operations Managers, Operations Supervisors, Chief Engineers, Building Operators, Maintenance Managers, and Maintenance Supervisors.

These professionals carry significant responsibility for building systems, preventive maintenance, life safety, regulatory compliance, occupational health and safety, vendor performance, and capital work. In multi-site or multi-family environments, they may also lead large internal teams and manage complex service demands across a portfolio.

We assess technical depth, operating judgment, leadership, planning, and the ability to build accountable systems—not simply whether someone knows how to respond when something goes wrong.

04

Administration & Coordination

The work that keeps everything else moving.

AVID recruits Property Administrators, Senior Property Administrators, Lease Administrators, Operations Coordinators, Project and Development Coordinators, Executive Assistants, and other specialized real estate support professionals.

These positions are not secondary to the business. They support continuity, documentation, reporting, tenant service, communication, and execution across teams. The strongest people often become the organizational memory of a property or portfolio—the person who sees what is missing, anticipates what is needed, and quietly prevents details from becoming problems.

We look for capability, judgment, initiative, and the ability to work effectively with multiple priorities and personalities. Every role matters because every part of the organization is interdependent.

05

Asset Management

Seeing where value exists—and where more can be created.

AVID searches for Asset Managers, Portfolio Managers, Asset Management Associates and Analysts, as well as Directors and Vice Presidents responsible for portfolio and asset performance.

These professionals connect strategy to what is happening at the property level. Their work may include asset business plans, capital allocation, leasing decisions, operating performance, risk, financing, reporting, repositioning, and recommendations related to acquisitions or dispositions.

Strong asset management requires more than analytical ability. It requires curiosity, commercial judgment, and the capacity to work across ownership, property management, leasing, finance, and development. We look for people who can interpret the numbers, understand what is driving them, and determine what should happen next.

06

Investment & Acquisitions

Good opportunities are found through analysis, judgment, and disciplined execution.

AVID searches for Investment and Acquisitions Analysts, Associates, Managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents involved in acquiring, financing, repositioning, and disposing of real estate.

The work may include underwriting, due diligence, financial modelling, market analysis, transaction management, investment strategy, and relationships with lenders, partners, and investors.

We assess the quality of someone’s thinking as carefully as the depth of their technical experience. Can they identify both opportunity and exposure? Can they explain the investment story clearly? Can they challenge assumptions, work through complexity, and remain commercially grounded when the numbers alone do not provide the full answer?

07

Finance & Accounting

Real estate finance requires more than knowing the numbers.

AVID recruits Chief Financial Officers, Vice Presidents and Directors of Finance, Controllers, Directors of Accounting, Property Accountants, Development and Project Accountants, Financial Analysts and other specialized finance professionals.

Commercial real estate accounting has its own systems, reporting requirements and operating realities. Depending on the organization, the mandate may include property and development accounting, portfolio reporting, forecasting, capitalization, financing, lender relationships, cash management, controls and executive decision support.

We look for technical capability and accuracy, but also for business understanding. The strongest finance professionals do more than report what happened. They improve the quality and timeliness of information, strengthen decision-making and help leadership understand what the business needs next.

08

Tax & Valuation

Technical depth, market knowledge and defensible judgment.

AVID searches for Property Tax Directors, Managers, Consultants and Analysts, as well as Valuation Leaders, Appraisers and Assessment Specialists.

These roles require specialized technical expertise alongside a strong understanding of property types, market conditions, assessment practices and ownership objectives. The work may influence operating costs, investment decisions, transactions, appeals, reporting and long-term asset strategy.

We assess how someone develops and defends a position, interprets complex information, communicates with stakeholders and translates technical findings into meaningful business advice.

09

Leasing

A lease is a transaction. Strong leasing is a long-term value strategy.

AVID recruits Leasing Representatives, Leasing Specialists, Leasing Managers, Leasing Directors and Vice Presidents across office, industrial, retail, mixed-use and multi-family environments.

The work may include prospecting, renewals, tenant retention, negotiation, market analysis, merchandising, deal structure and collaboration with property and asset management.

Successful leasing professionals understand both people and property. They know their market, recognize opportunity, build trust and keep momentum moving through a process that can involve competing interests and considerable complexity. We look for evidence of relationships built, transactions completed and lasting value created—not simply activity.

10

Brokerage: Tenant & Owner Representation

Market intelligence becomes valuable when someone knows what to do with it.

AVID searches for Managing Directors, Brokerage Leaders, Commercial Brokers, Associate Brokers, Sales Representatives, Tenant Representatives, Owner Representatives and Investment Sales professionals.

Brokerage requires a distinctive combination of market knowledge, relationships, initiative, credibility, negotiation and business development. Strong brokers do more than facilitate transactions. They understand the client’s business, recognize opportunity and provide advice that improves the quality of a real estate decision.

Whether representing a tenant, owner, investor or occupier, we look for professionals who can create opportunity while protecting trust and reputation over the long term.

11

Project Management & Development

Moving an idea from possibility to delivery.

AVID searches for Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, Construction Managers, Owner’s Representatives, Development Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents.

These professionals bring together design, approvals, consultants, contractors, budgets, schedules, risk and stakeholder expectations. They must know when to stay in the details, when to step back and when to intervene before an issue affects the larger project.

We look for demonstrated delivery, but also for how someone achieved it: how they communicate, solve problems, manage competing interests and maintain accountability when complexity shows up.

12

Land Development

Creating value long before construction begins.

AVID recruits Land Development Coordinators, Development and Land Managers, Planning and Approvals professionals, Directors and Vice Presidents involved in advancing land from acquisition through entitlement, servicing and development.

These roles often sit at the intersection of ownership objectives, municipal processes, consultants, infrastructure, market timing and long-range investment decisions.

Strong land development professionals require patience, persistence, technical understanding and the ability to build productive relationships across many stakeholders. We assess how someone moves work forward when timelines are long, outcomes are interconnected and progress depends on both expertise and influence.

13

Marketing & Communications

Real estate marketing should understand the asset—and the business behind it.

AVID searches for Marketing Specialists, Property Marketing Managers, Marketing Managers, Communications Leaders, Directors and Vice Presidents working within commercial real estate.

The strongest professionals understand that real estate marketing is not only about promotion. It can support leasing, tenant engagement, project launches, community positioning, investment narratives, employer reputation and the long-term identity of a property or organization.

We look for people who combine creativity with commercial understanding—professionals who know their audience, understand the objective and can connect a brand or property story to a meaningful business result.

14

Specialized & Technical CRE Roles

Sometimes the hardest person to find sits between two areas of expertise.

Some commercial real estate searches do not fit neatly into a standard category.

AVID works on specialized mandates requiring both technical depth and an understanding of how real estate organizations, portfolios and projects operate. These may include real estate technology and systems, sustainability and ESG, energy management, environmental services, compliance, research and market intelligence, mortgage and real estate lending, insurance and risk, procurement, contracts and other highly specialized functions.

These searches require careful market mapping and informed curiosity. We need to understand the technical discipline, the real estate context and why the combination matters to the organization.

If the role is difficult to define, that is often where the most important conversation begins.

Talk to AVID About a Specialized Search
How AVID Runs a CRE SearchFig. 03 — How AVID Runs a CRE Search

We understand success first. Then we search for the person who can create it.

Every AVID search begins by going beyond the job description.

We want to understand the organization, its ownership, portfolio, leadership, culture and direction. We ask why the hire matters now, what the person will inherit, what needs to improve and what meaningful success should look like during the first year and beyond.

For commercial real estate searches, that can also mean understanding the properties, walking the site, discussing portfolio strategy, examining reporting relationships and being candid about the market, compensation and what will—or will not—attract the right person.

From there, we define the candidate profile and map the market. AVID directly approaches people whose experience, accomplishments and reputation suggest meaningful alignment. We do not rely on waiting for the right résumé to arrive.

Every serious candidate is assessed in depth:

  • Can they do the work?
  • Why are they particularly good at it?
  • What have they consistently accomplished?
  • How do they achieve those outcomes?
  • How do they communicate, influence, adapt and lead?
  • Why does their Value Proposition matter to this organization?
  • What could become possible because they are there?

The result is not a stack of résumés. It is a considered shortlist of people who have been spoken with, understood and honestly represented.

Tell us what the organization needs—not simply what the job description says.

You may know the title. You may still be working through the mandate. You may need to understand the market before deciding how to proceed.

That is part of the conversation.

AVID works directly with owners, boards, Presidents, executives and hiring leaders to understand what the business needs, what the market can offer and how the right person could strengthen the organization.

There is no generic intake form and no hand-off model. The work begins with a real conversation.
