Our client, a privately owned and long standing Alberta-based company who operates in the specialized construction products and services market, is in search of a savvy, hands-on Controller (Edmonton, AB) to fulfill the full-cycle accounting needs of this successful small business. Having earned a reputation for operating with integrity, delivering quality customer service and boasting a family-like culture, our client is excited to add your bench strength and a like-minded attitude to their office team.

As their new Controller, you will play a critical role in adding value to both the day to day accounting functions as well as elevating the systems and flow of the accounting area. Receiving support from the ownership, you will lean heavily on your project-based full-cycle accounting intelligence beyond possessing a dexterity to maneuver well in SAGE 50 and SAGE 300 Construction and Real Estate software. As well, you are well versed in performing all activities related to month-end activities, A/R, A/P, running reports and preparing bi-weekly payroll for 55+ employees.

You enjoy working in a stand-lone accounting position (some ancillary support provided) in a busy and friendly office. Your self-reliance and well developed interpersonal skills have allowed you to act as a valued support to past owner/employers. Beyond your capability to lend your talent to your new employer’s current operation, your aptitude for being highly organized and detailed is to be commended. Creating structure for yourself is very important as it has allowed you to get ahead of priorities and meet critical timelines.

Your proven track record for successfully delivering all aspects related to the accounting of a small business, along with your strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to maneuver well in Sage 300 CRE will elevate you in this process. Having 7+ years of accounting experience in project driven, non-corporate environments, where you have enjoyed touching all aspects associated with accounting in a simple role, will make for a good fit for this Controller position. Your related post secondary education and/or designation (not a requirement), will add to your ability to attain this fantastic position.
