Choose the route that matches your situation. The form changes to match, and your note goes directly to Cindy Nicholls Smith at AVID EXEC.
Referred by someone who has worked with us? Mention their name in your note and we will pick up the thread from there.
Most candidates tell us they have never met a recruiter who told them the truth about where they stood. That is usually the first thing we change.

Before you writeFig. 03 — Common questions
- What kinds of roles does AVID EXEC recruit?
- AVID EXEC recruits at every level a business needs, with commercial and multi-family real estate as its deepest practice: property management leadership, broker of record, development and construction leadership, asset management and real estate finance, plus not-for-profit and association executives and general corporate leadership.
- What areas does AVID EXEC serve?
- AVID EXEC works from Edmonton and recruits primarily across Edmonton and Calgary. Mandates extend through Alberta and, where a client relationship calls for it, elsewhere in Western Canada. The Alberta market is where the firm's network is deepest.
- How does AVID EXEC charge for a search?
- Retained search is a percentage of first-year compensation, engaged in stages against an agreed fee and a defined market map. Contingency recruitment is paid only on placement. Advisory work is scoped separately. Fees are confirmed in writing before any search work begins.
- How confidential is a conversation with AVID EXEC?
- Completely. Candidate conversations are never shared with an employer without explicit permission, and client mandates are frequently unadvertised. Nothing about a résumé, a compensation figure or an exploratory call leaves the firm without consent.
- What should we have ready before we call a search firm?
- You do not need a finished job description. It helps to be able to say what the role exists to change, who it reports to and works alongside, and what the first twelve months should produce. AVID EXEC builds the brief from there; the earlier that conversation starts, the better the shortlist.
- What is AVID EXEC?
- AVID EXEC Ltd. is an executive search, contingency recruitment and leadership advisory firm in Edmonton, Alberta, led by Principal Cindy Nicholls Smith. Commercial and multi-family real estate is our deepest specialization. We also recruit in engineering, construction, corporate services and the not-for-profit sector, at every level a business needs.
